The Campeche Madness Fly! Is a simple & excellent pattern for the Baby Tarpon & Snook; I have fish with this Fly all over the Yucatan peninsula whit great response.
Tied on an Owner Mosquito hook, size 1/0, Magnum black barred rabbit strip, Gold Flashabou, Rooster neck hackle and Seal Fur. The varieties of colors depends on the fishing time of the day, being my favorites the orange and black.
Some of the great think about this Fly is the easy stripping and the response of the fish in the water, it works excellent on a fast retrieve and amazing with a layout Tarpon or Snook because it doesn’t sink like a brick, the motion of the rabbit strip even without moving the Fly is irresistible, is easy to cast and land with a nice splash in the water almost like a shrimp popping, plus the Owner Mosquito hook is light & sharp making an easier hookup, I also tide this pattern on Mustad & Gamakatsu hooks. But the Mosquito is my favorite for the Campeche Tarpon. (Capt. Encalada)
